In February 2024, Whitbread launched the first of two public consultations on the aspiration to transform the Norwich Nelson site to create a vibrant new gateway to the city.
Across two phases of public consultation in February and July 2024, almost 400 local people provided their feedback to shape the scheme design and offer, with thousands of visitors to the consultation website and hundreds of attendees at drop-in consultation events.
Local feedback has been at the centre of both the principles of development and the design review process, and Whitbread would like to thank all local residents and stakeholders who took the time to participate in our public consultations in February and July.

What happens next?

Norwich City Council has now commenced the statutory consultation period on the application.
This provides an opportunity for the local community to view all the planning documents and make formal submissions to the council for their consideration in the determination of the planning application.

We held an initial public consultation in January-February 2024 to introduce our initial vision for Norwich Nelson and understand your priorities for the site. You can view the exhibition boards from our first round of consultation here.
